About MEGA

The MEGA International Creative Media Festival is hosted by the Academy of Film and Creative Technology at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. MEGA is an integrated concept combining Media, Exhibition, Graphics, and Arts. The festival focuses on diverse forms of creative media, incorporating activities such as screenings of new media works and sharing and exchange summits.

In the competition section of the 5th MEGA, which concluded in 2025, new tracks for AI-generated works and short videos were introduced. A total of 1,384 submissions were received from 14 countries and regions, including 253 works from the social group. The award ceremony and the launch of the Immersive Dome Cinema took place on December 18, 2025, at the newly completed Immersive Dome Cinema at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. A summit forum themed "Immersive Media" was also held. Government officials, industry professionals, academics, and other individuals from both inside and outside the university were invited to attend the ceremony, which was also live-streamed on platforms such as NetEase News, attracting widespread attention and drawing over 2.07 million online participants.

With the rapid advancement of technology, immersive media has emerged as a global frontier and a key direction for future development. The newly inaugurated immersive dome cinema at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University marks a significant step for the MEGA International Creative Media Festival in the field of immersive media. The 6th MEGA will primarily focus on soliciting and discussing immersive media works, aiming to keep pace with industry trends and grasp the pulse of technological innovation. By doing so, the festival will remain at the forefront of industry development, providing a high-quality platform for global creative media students and industry professionals to gain insights into future trends and exchange cutting-edge ideas, thereby leading the immersive media industry toward a more innovative and diverse direction.

The call for submissions for the 6th MEGA International Creative Media Festival will run from 00:00 on April 1, 2026, to 24:00 on June 30, 2026. We welcome your participation!

Submission Requirements

A. Student Group

a.Film Works

Must be produced after January 1, 2024.
Submissions are categorized into short films and short videos. Short films should not exceed 30 minutes in duration, while short videos should not exceed 3 minutes. Short videos support both horizontal and vertical screen formats.
Submission materials should be in MP4 or MOV format. Please ensure your video files conform to either of these formats for a smooth submission process.
Films are not limited by genre (experimental, drama, documentary, animation, MV, TV show, science fiction, etc.).
Except for silent films, all other films must include English subtitles. Multilingual works are encouraged, and all multilingual dialogues must be accompanied by standard and appropriate English subtitles.
Films that have been publicly screened in cinemas or on online platforms in China's mainland or have plans for such screening before the film festival should indicate this information.

b. AI Works

Must be produced after January 1, 2024.
Submissions are categorized into short films and short videos. Short films should not exceed 30 minutes in duration, while short videos should not exceed 3 minutes. Short videos support both horizontal and vertical screen formats.
The creative process must involve the use of AI tools, with content generated by AI accounting for more than 50% of the total duration. This includes, but is not limited to, generative AI, and allows for editing and production of video shorts based on AI-generated content.
Submission materials should include a creative explanation document and a compressed file of the derived video. The document should be in doc or pdf format, and the video should be in MP4 or MOV format. The final compressed file should be in zip format. Please ensure your files conform to these format requirements for a smooth submission process.
Films are not limited by genre (experimental, drama, documentary, animation, MV, TV show, science fiction, etc.).
Except for silent films, all other films must include English subtitles. Multilingual works are encouraged, and all multilingual dialogues must be accompanied by standard and appropriate English subtitles.

c. Immersive Media Works

Must be produced after January 1, 2024.
Submissions are categorized into short films and short videos. Short films should not exceed 30 minutes in duration, while short videos should not exceed 3 minutes. Short videos support both horizontal and vertical screen formats.
Centered around "immersive experience," encouraging exploration of technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and interactive storytelling that reshape media forms.
Submission materials should be in MP4 or MOV format. Please ensure your video files conform to either of these formats for a smooth submission process.
Films are not limited by genre (experimental, drama, documentary, animation, MV, TV show, science fiction, etc.).
Except for silent films, all other films must include English subtitles. Multilingual works are encouraged, and all multilingual dialogues must be accompanied by standard and appropriate English subtitles.

B. Social Group

Submissions are primarily film and video works.

Must be produced after January 1, 2024.
Submissions are categorized into short films and short videos. Short films should not exceed 30 minutes in duration, while short videos should not exceed 3 minutes. Short videos support both horizontal and vertical screen formats.
Submission materials should be in MP4 or MOV format. Please ensure your video files conform to either of these formats for a smooth submission process.

Submission Instructions

Works must originate from individual creativity and must not infringe upon others' copyrights or intellectual property rights. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification if discovered.
Works must not include watermarks, borders, stickers, dates, logos, etc.
Works must not contain any commercial advertisements.
Works must not involve pornographic, violent content, or contain racial, religious, or gender discrimination.
Works that do not comply with the above requirements will be considered as automatic withdrawal.
The copyright of the works belongs to the participants, and the organizers have the right to use the works for promotional purposes related to the competition.

Final Rewards

After rigorous selection by a professional jury, the winners of each award will be chosen. Winners will have the opportunity to have their works screened offline, participate in the MEGA International Creative Media Festival Awards Ceremony and Opening Ceremony held in Suzhou in October 2026, and receive additional promotional resources.
